Our current setup consists out of a windows 2012 r2 server with essentials roles only (VPN method) installed.
Wsus has been configured on the same server to sync from microsoft and only approve them, not downloading them locally.
The clients are correctly configured (GPO) to connect to my windows server over VPN, obtain the approved updates and download/install them from microsoft update services. DNS has been verified to work properly.
Now the issue resides in obtaining the custom pushed packages. Whenever a package is published to one of the clients (manually or auto) the client tries to obtain the package, but seems to be timing out after 30 seconds.
The vpn clients do have a stable VPN aswell as up to 1MB down connection over the VPN.
Is there a possibility that the clients are searching for the custom package on the microsoft website, due to WSUS being configured this way? Any other suggestions regarding this issue?
Thanks in advance.
