Fully integrated / functioning SCCM / SCUP / WSUS Package Publisher / WSUS environment with 20 downstream servers, 10,000 endpoints and certificates.
I am attempting to deploy the 2012 SCCM agent via a WSUS Package Publisher update, as we have several machines remotely who are yet to install this agent using the standard GPO method. The intention of the package is to validate by means of the following registry key if the SCCM agent is installed and functioning correctly, before attempting to install, however I'm running into problems with the installed / installable rules configuration:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\CCM - SMSSLP - servername.fqdn
I am able to create / publish etc. the package without a problem, but the following scenarios are not providing the expected behaviour:
SCCM Agent installed and registry key correct - no update required
SCCM Agent installed, but registry key incorrect - update
SCCM Agent not installed - update
Any guidance on past experience or best approach would be appreciated.
