Commented Unassigned: When renaming an update an empty group remains [279]

Hello,

I've encountered a little issue that irritated and annoyed me firstly.

If I want to change the product name of an update thats the only one in a group sorted by product name an error occurs.
When I revise this update, alter the name and finish the revision an empty group remains in WPP.

A similar error occurs when I change the vendor name while revisioning an update.

I attached a screenshot of this behaviour.

The problem persists even if I restart WPP. To solve this problem in both cases I deleted the appropriate vendor group with the revised update completely and restarted WPP.

Thats the point that frustrated me a bit because I had a bunch of updates in another product group in that specific vendor group that worked well. But I didn't like the messed up display. So I deleted them all.

Greetings

Comments: > Did you try to delete the Folders afterwards? Why didn't you cleanup the old Computers? Yes, I tried to delete the empty group (empty folders) afterwards. It didn't work either. I keep the listed computers in WSUS up to date manually. There are not too many machines so that is ok for me. Some machines I use occasionally, mostly for testing purposes. They probably would have been deleted by the cleanup agent. Therefore I decided to uncheck that option. > There is some prerequisites to be able to use this feature. > WPP must run on the Wsus Server > Connect to local server" must tick on settings > The option "Never make this update visible in Wsus Console" must NOT be selected > I just have checked if all this requirements are met and options are properly set to be sure. They are... > The feature "Clean UpdateServicesPackage Folder" will browse this folder to search for updates that are not listed anymore in Wsus. I will give the feature a try in the future. Thank you for answering that question. :) But as NorbertFE mentioned it would not solve the Problem with the empty groups. Or do I get something wrong?
