After upgrade of system to Windows 10 WSUS Package Publisher fails to publish scup catalog patches (Flash 19 as one example) with "Publishing operation failed because the console and remote server versions do not match."
Help->About reports:
Release: 1.3.1508.8
Server Version: 6.3.9600.16384
Console Version: 10.0.10514.4
I have Tools->Settings->"Ignore Console and Server version mismatch." checked.
Comments: Correction: at least some functionality does not work on 2012 R2 Server Core systems. Specifically when I try to browse for a file while using the "Update Creation Wizard" the software crashes. For reference to any one else caught in this situation don't forget that WSUS 6 remote tools don't install on anything less than Win 8 so you can't use a Win 7 box as a client management system. And while you can switch from core to full gui and back on a new clean install easily I've read a few things that imply once you've patched your system for a while you may have trouble. I haven't tried it yet myself. Status as of this post: WSUS PP doesn't work on Win10 yet. WSUS v6 console doesn't install on anything older than Win 8. WSUS PP relies on having the WSUS console installed. Instead of using a client-console it's recommend to run WSUS PP directly on the server. WSUS PP doesn't work completely on a Core server. Now I'm off to decide if it's easier/riskier to move my server to full gui or setup a new Win8 management box.
