There are no problem to use .exe files in WPP to create updates. A lot of administrators use it.
I have working updates for Firefox. Thunderbird, ImageJ, Notepad and much more, all exe based.
Be sure that you are use all nessasary (silent) switches for your .exe files.
If you are new on WPP, I think the problem ist that youre rules are not correct. You NEED manual rules if you use .exe files! Read the tutorials for creating updates from .exe files.....
