I am a long time to use the WSUS also looking for software deployment and then was held yesterday Interesting note on WPP. I have decided for the WPP because it also runs on Windows Server 2012. For these useful tool first a welcome thank you.
So far so good I have installed and set up the WPP today and the connection to the WSUS is also running. Also, I see all PCs in the WPP. But what is amazing is the fact that all Windows 7 PCs _x64 are indicated "offline" (orange). If I excecute in WPP the command to send his report, I see in the window of WPP (ping - no ping).
Windows XP machine and the server are shown in green. If I send the ping command in cmd the Windows 7 client answers properly. What must I do that the Windows 7 clients appear as online (green) in the WPP and why the ping does not work. On all machines the firewall is disabled.
Comments: Hi, Good idear, but on a windows 7/8 machine you MUST use the ping -4 otherwise the ping takes the 6er format Always use IPv4. (Recommended) <- Default setting - ok Always Use IPV6. - ok Use IPV6 first and, if fail, use IPV4 - but with the -4 string for IPv4, otherwise the ping does not work on these machines) Greetings
