That doesn't solve my problem. I just want to be able to save and load whole rule sets including all groups and rules. Maybe you can add this feature in a future version of the WPP.

Bonjour,
Cordialement.

Hi,

I have pushed some updates via WPP but most of the clients are not installing them and the computer receives a Windows Update error code 800B0004.

For example.. I have pushed an msi file of Adobe Reader on my WSUS server with WPP and the client receives the update. After downloading, the file wont be installed. However, there are some clients that are installing these updates with no problem.
  • .Net framework 4.0 is installed.
  • Client has received the WSUS self-signed certifcate threw GPO
I checked in event viewer but I don't see alot of details about the error. Does anyone know where I can find more information about this error and how I can solve this?

hi,
the computer receives a Windows Update error code 800B0004.
This code mean : "The subject is not trusted for the specified action."

You certainly have a problem with your certificate.

You should look at C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log

It looks like a certificate problem indeed. Could you tell me what went wrong because the certificate is pushed to every client and I have checked this. And why is it working on some clients?

B Lemon

Commented Unassigned: Customer Updates not working [246]

Hi,

this software looks so good an i would like to use it. But it does not work. I have a new fresh test environment with a Windows 2012 Server with WSUS as an DC an two Clients (Windows 7 and Windows 8). Everything is up to date an WSUS itself works. All systems are x64. I use WPP an the server and published Acrobat Reader with updates to the Win7-Client.

After tha, i tried to use Custom Updates to distribute Java, but this does not work at all. I had so much trouble to create the customer update, because everytime the wizard hang with no response. I have to logout, to start the customer update wizard again. Once i was able to configure an distribute a customer update, but the installation was not possbile on the clients (Win7 and Win8). The updateclients recognized the update and can download ist, but after that i get an error with code 643 or 0x80070643. .NET 3.5 shoud be active on both clients.

How can i find out, what is missing or wrong? Is there a possibility to execute customerupdateengine.exe on the client to install the update without the use of windows update?

When i have so much trouble to get this solution to work, is there anybody using it in a productiv environment with WSUS on Windows 2012 an Win7 and Win8-Clients (x64)?

Maybe somebody can help me, thank you.

Comments: Thank you, austianian, very much. I tested a paket by copying the cap-File to the client, extracted it with 7-zip to a folder, started an cmd, went into the folder an started the execution with "customupdateengine.exe \actionfile=[filename].xml", thats speeds up testing. I started the execution as an Domain-Administrator on an Windows 7-Domainclient an found the logfile in the %temp%-Folder of the user (Domain\Administrator) Maybe somebody can help me with the execution of the program customerupdateengine.exe. It still hangs so often. I have to kill the process. When i start it again, i have the same trouble. After a while it works again. Does anybody have the same experiences?

New Post: WSUS Migration: Existing self-signed certificate becomes invalide

Hello everyone,

after migrating (replication) the exisiting WSUS-Server (2003 R2) to a new server (2008 R2) WPP reports that the is any certificate.
The former certificate was succesfully imported to the new WSUS-Server (Trusted Root Certificates, Trusted Publishers and WSUS) and the WSUS service was restarted.

But WPP still asks for a new certificate. After creating a new certificate WPP starts without error but the 3-party-Updates can not imported/resigned.

So we used both certificates (old and new), imported the 3-party-updates and resigned them. After that we dropped the old certificate.

Is there any other options when migrating WSUS to a new machine?

Best regards
Petapico.

Hello WinfriedSonntag,

thanks for Your quick replay!

Unfortunately the migration is done so we can not test Your suggestion. So I hope that someone else found this BEFORE migrating.

Best regards to the WPP-Team

New Post: Adobe Flash Updates are not shown on client

Hey guys,

i just started using the WPP to deploy Adobe Flash Player Updates. I imported the catalog to WPP without problems. After that i configured WSUS to make the Adobe Updates visible in WSUS. I approved the Adobe Updates in WSUS to be installed on clients. So until that everything works like it should be. The self signed cert is published correctly to the clients, too.
Unfortunately the Adobe Updates do not show up on the Client when i am searching for updates. Windows Updates from WSUS are working without any problems. Does anyone havve an idea what could be my problem or where i could have made a mistake.

Regards,
Florian

you have to use the 32-bit check box only when you install a 32bit software with test on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE...
  • so when you install on windows 32bit, it will test HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE...
  • and with windows 64bit, it will automatically test HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Wow6432Node\SOFTWARE...
