Another possibility for replication the old behavior of the Java Updates (Uninstalling the previous Version) is to create a custom Update and executing the two msiexec strings.
Uninstalling the old Version and installing the new one.

New Post: Adobe Flash Plugin stays in 'Not Installed'

I created a update package for Adobe Flash Player 32-bit/64-bit Plugin 18.0.0.209 released this week and deployed it to some client computers. On creating the package I followed the procedure the pdf manual in the documentation section of this site. Then I tried to search any update at the client computer but couldn't find any update. Next I check updated plugins with Firefox, it says Adobe Flash Player is old(18.0.0.203, which I also installed with WSUS successfully). WSUS packager says the update is "not installed" to the computer. I have tried detect and report to two computers for several times but results were same.

What should I try next time?

*My environment
Client Computers: Windows 7 Enterprise & Professional SP1
Server OS: Windows 2008 R2 Standard
WSUS: 3.2.7600.226
WSUS Packager: 1.3.1504.15

Which Flash exactly you will install? ActiveX or/and Plugin? ActiveX only up to W7, in W8 and higher Flash Player comes through Windows Update/WSUS.

I think the failed is on W8 Clients. If yes, you have to create a new Rule, LowerW8Clients.

If that were the problem, the installation on the clients should stop working also.

Just Export the existing code signing certificate with it's private key and Import it into the new wsus using WPP for Import. You don't Need re-sign all packages than.

omg please slapping me... it's looks that the main problem is, that the package imported from adobe catalog is only update not for new installation. I was install on problemed computer previous version of flashplayer and now the update comes up.

Interesting for me is, that I clear all install/update rulles, that the update did not show up

You can pull Java MSI's from the \windows\installer folder once you install it somewhere. Add the 'Subject' column or sort by modified date.

New Post: How to do custom command line?

$

I'm very familiar with WSUS itself, but a newbie for WPP. I've successfully deployed several basic self-contained updates using WPP.

But how do I create and update for an exe that requires a custom command line parameters to make it run silently?

I've searched and I find lots of posts that talk about using custom command lines, but I can't find anything that tells me specifically how to create a custom command line.

I did check into using the "Custom Update" wizard in WPP, which looks like it will do what I need to do. But is that the only way to create an update to use a custom command line? Is there no way to just add command line parameters to a normal update?

Also, if I use the Custom Update wizard, or if there is indeed another easier way for normal updates, are there any caveats to be aware of regarding quote characters on the command line? My command line does require quotes.

One other idea I had... I do have a license for WinZip self-extractor full version where I can create packages "for software installation" (where it extracts the self-extracting .exe to the TEMP directory, runs a command line, then deletes the extracted contents from TEMP). I could encapsulate my program installer .exe inside the WinZip self-extractor and publish the WinZip .exe file. So WSUS would just run the WinZip .exe file which would still require no extra parameters and run silently, and the WinZip .exe would then extract the actual software install .exe and run the custom command line. Is there any reason that wouldn't work?

Thank you!

Hello All,
I have created the package on WSUS server and published it listed on replica..
It has installed on all the clients, now i have deleted the package..it deleted in Upstream server but not on the replica server... Any idea why replica is not updating?
