New Post: WPP crashs wen open Adobe Catalog

Follow-up on this. Is there any special handling of quotes on the command line? My command line isn't working.

This is one of those things where the installer is an .msi encapsulated inside a setup.exe. So the parameter I need to add to the command line for the setup.exe is:
/v”/qn REBOOT=ReallySuppress”

This works fine when I run that command line manually to install the product, but it's not working when deploying through WSUS with WPP. The WindowsUpdate.log file on the workstation PC says it's installing the update, but it's not actually installed. I'm thinking that maybe the quotes are the issue, but I don't know for sure.

Thank you.

You can make multi try. Just revise the update and change the command-Line

I'm sorry, but I don't know what you mean by multi try. And in what way would I revise the command line?

I will say, WSUS does re-detect that the update is not installed on the next detection, and does try to install it again, and again, and again.

Commented Unassigned: Settings for Adobe Acrobat Reader DC .msp Patch [277]

Good Morning.

I have built a custom Update for the New Adobe Acrobat Reader DC version.. I do have a issue which may be a setting I did not know about since this is the first .msp I have pushed. Our Test PC's see the package, install it, but then it will keep seeing it and install it again.. Is there a setting that needs to be done for a .msp that after it is installed, it will not try to keep downloading as an update..

Any advice is appreciated..

Thanks

~J
Comments: This has been resolved... Looking at the settings, I needed to add the MSI Patched Installed for Product Ruled. Here I needed to define the Patch Revision number and the original .msi product code.. Once adding true and adding false, the update installed and did not re-install after... I have made notes for future use.. Thanks again!

Right click on the update in WPP and choose 'Revise'. Then change the Command-Line until you find the right one.

I know HOW to change the command line. I don't know what I'd change it to. That IS the correct the command line that I posted in the my original post.

I'm still not sure what you mean by "make multi try" in your earlier reply today. can you please explain that?

Since you didn't address this question in your earlier replies, am I correct that I don't need to do anything special for having quotes in the command line? I don't need to "escape" the quotes, or make them double quotes, or anything else special?

Thanks again.

New Post: update file localization

Hello,
Im looking for a way to see the files name/ path I used for creating the update.
If I create a new update, the first windows ask for ..file an ..more Files / folders.
If I reopen the update configuration later, I start on the second window (Vendor / Product name .... )
But time to time, if I searching for problems, eg. with modified .msi's, I want to check used file name / creating date.

request:
Yes, I can got to /WSUS/UpdateServicesPackages/ and searching, but Its not very comfortable, starting on the first Window, eg with greyed path names will be helpfull.

Hello, run WPP and connect to your wsus server. Then select the update and on the 'Information' tab click on the 'Id' Guid. This will open the right folder.
Note that you won't be able to change files here. Wsus will not let you do. You will need to make a new update to change these files. This is why when you revise an update, you start with the second screen.

Well, I figured out my problem. Darn "autocorrect" and copy & paste! :)

It was indeed the quotes that were the issue, but not in the way I thought.

I had copied and pasted the command line into WPP from an Outlook email message. Outlook had "autocorrected" the quote characters to fancy "open" and "close" quote characters instead of just plain standard quotes. So that's what I pasted into WPP.

Once I manually typed in the quote characters on the command line field in WPP so they were true quote characters, the install worked just fine.

The error code displayed is Error code 800B0109 when the client machine is not in the same domain as the WSUS server.

Once I join the client to the same domain the update installs with no errors.

Sorry it took so long to get back to this issue.

Hi,
The error code displayed is Error code 800B0109
This error code means : A certificate chain processed, but terminated in a root certificate which is not trusted by the trust provider

Please help me here then:
I have a real signed CA certificate and then created a subCA for coding signing. I then deployed the subCA from the root domain via GPO to all the 26 lower domains. That replicated with no issue and both WPP and SCUP2011 allows me to create updates. Once I deploy it from SCUP2011 it keeps the FQDN when I look into the update details and it will install on the clients thru WSUS. When I publish an update thru WPP the download URL doesn't keep the FQDN and the updates fail with the above error code. Even if I can just figure out what table in the DB that field is stored in I will gladly manually edit the database if you can guide me in the correct direction.
