Hi - I am running WPP version 1.3.1702.10 on a Windows Server 2016 WSUS instance. Trying to connect, I followed the documentation, and chose "Connect to local server" as my connection option. I get the error of "Connection Failed: The request failed with HTTP status 400: Bad Request.".

I've verified the WSUS instance is running properly, and I can get to the SimpleAuth Web Service test page for WSUS with no issue. I've also tried disabling the local firewall to ensure it wasn't blocking anything, but am getting the same result. Any thoughts on what could be causing my issue?

Comments: I don't think it's an issue with wpp, but your update package. As you didn't post any more info, you probably should try to translate my how to. ;)

Rated 3 Stars (out of 5) - Hi Dcortel- Any chance you could add a setting for the named pipe? It's impossible to make updates visible in the console from WSUSPP on Server 2016 because you get the named pipe error: 40. Presumably this is due to the change to the WID connection string to \\.\pipe\Microsoft##WID\tsql\query I was going to try to tweak it myself, but it looks like the source code hasn't been updated since 2015, and your fork doesn't seem to be cloneable.

I have wsus package publisher installed on 2016 server, and anytime I try to make updates visible in wsus Console, I receive an error.

A Network-Related or Instance-related error occurred while establishing a connection to sql server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that sql server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL server

I am running all apps on the same server.

Comments: You are using Windows Internal Database? If yes, pls install MS SQL Express Database, after this, you can make Updates visible in WSUS-Console.

Hello, new one here :-).

i try to import an update from Adobe DC 17.x from the Catalog. The Server try it but he said: "download fail: the remotename could not resolve". After cupple seconds all lines are green but no dowload was sucsessful. av speed 0.00 KB/s.

Some with the same problem?

Ich habe versucht auf unserem WSUS Server ein Adobe Reader Update von einem Katalog runter zu laden. Leider zeigt das Fenster an der der Download fehlgeschlagen ist. Grund: Der Remotename konnte nicht aufgelöst werden. Dann werden alle Balken grüm, durchschnittliche Geschwindigkeit 0.00 KB/s.

Hat jemand das selbe Problem gehabt??


Comments: Hello, I have exactly the same problem, can not download any Reader update, getting error: "download fail: the remotename could not resolve" I am able to download other updates (HP and so on) without problems. What to do?

Hi,
i configured WPP yesterday firs time and wanted to publish some packages to W10Pro machine.
W10 see updates but can't install them. Eventlog says Packages can not be downloaded.

An error is occured but we will try it again.
7-Zip 16.04 (x64 edition) – Fehler 0x80246003
Notepad ++ 7.5 – Fehler 0x80246003
TightVNC Viewer Only – Fehler 0x80246003

I tried to delete SftwareDistribution but it did not helped.
What can i try yet?

Our parent company recently changed our WSUS server to be a downstream replica of their server. Prior to this I was using WSUS Package Publisher without any issues. After they changed the WSUS configuration, I could no longer revise or create new updates. I've just changed our on site WSUS server back to synchronise directly with Microsoft rather than another update server. I can now revise and create new packages using WSUS Package Publisher. However, I have a problem installing them on the client machines. I've created a superseding update for a piece of software we use and have approved it for installation. When I search for new updates on a client PC, it finds the new update, downloads it, but fails to install. It comes up each time with the following error message:

Some update files aren't signed correctly.

Error code: (0x800b0109)

Any ideas how I fix this?

Comments: Is the Certificate you used on two places on the Clients? You can try to resign in WPP. Maybe this will help.

i see the topic is old and maybe not relevant anymore, but nevertheless:
and for "if the update can be installed", I simply check if the FoxitReader.exe exists at all.
this is your mistake - regarding this rule package publisher looks for the FoxitReader.exe on your computer. Can't find the file and decide "Update is not requiered". Try to delete this rule and run update again.

I have tried deploying an installation of SAPgui 7.50 with a single .exe installer file. The file resides on the WSUS server. The update package is a normal update NOT a custom one. I get the following errors in WPP console:

On the Client I also get the error 0x80070643.

When I install the .exe file manually I am able to install it without any problems. Except that I have to be local administrator :-/

Does anyone tried something similar?

And yes - I have successfully deployed som other files (.msi) without any issues at all. So the setup is working.

Hi there,

Some questions about new update of flash.
What is the best pratice ? I already seen this : http://wsuspackagepublisher.codeplex.com/discussions/661072
But it don't work for me.

To describe my process :
Check catalog, import new flash from catalog, it appear on the list.
I give an "Expire" option for the previous versions. And push new version with approve for all computer. But i dont have anything new on computers. I must delete software info to have a new update.

I need help ! ;-)
