Commented Unassigned: operational overview [175]

I've installed the software, taken care of the certificates, added Adobe catalogs and approved a test using a Flash Player update. Now I'm waiting for the update to happen on my test computer.

What I really need is a better understanding of the operational side of the update process. How does it work? Am I correct that these updates won't show in the WSUS user console? Does WSUS refer the client to WPP to get the updates? Do the clients contact WPP directly without any involvement from WSUS? How does it all work? Is there a document that explains this process?

Thank you.
Comments: Hi kdk7037, WPP publish updates in the Wsus server. Once this is done, clients computers will download it if apply and install it exactly like Microsoft updates. By default, locally published updates are not shown in the Wsus console. Wpp can make them appear in the console by editing the SQL database. This is done when WPP publish or revise the update. If you have already publish an update and forgot to make it visible in the Wsus console, you have to right click on this update and choose 'Make it visible in the Wsus Console'. ![Show in Wsus console](http://i.imgur.com/PIq4caG.png) This option is enable if you have set WPP to "Always make update visible" or "let me choose", and if WPP run locally on the Wsus server. ![Image](http://i.imgur.com/0xTr76e.jpg) If your test computer has not been download the udpate: - Ensure you have set correct applicable rules - Ensure you have approve this update for installation on htis computer group - Ensure you have deployed the code signing certificate to that clients - Look into C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log to error message
